North Star Child Advocacy Center is a special place serving sexually abused children in the Central Florida area. It is our mission to protect and heal as many children as possible through community awareness and counseling services. North Star is dedicated to "Helping children reach their potential."

• Florida has the second highest rate of child abuse in the nation.

• Approximately 7,560+ or 10% of the total abuse cases were reports of substantiated sexual abuse.

• There are over 35,000 registered sex offenders in the State of Florida.

• There are over 500,000 registered sex offenders in the nation.

• There are currently no specialized play therapy centers in South Lake County.

• Early intervention changes the life course of a child who has been abused in that they are less likely to use alcohol or illicit drugs, run away, join gangs, prostitute and become abusers themselves.

Helping Non-Profits Navigate Their Way: North Star also provides a service to other non-profit organizations by helping them navigate their way through federal and state requirements for a nominal fee.
